KAELIS
KAELIS is a musical project which was born in 2019. It combines a modern and fresh sound with traditional heavy metal, symphonic metal and choral orchestrations.
The name of the band is derived from the Alpha Caeli star, from the Caelum constellation, and represents the energy and style of the group.
The band’s line-up features Bethany Neumann (vocals), Álvaro Montalbo Laffón (rhythm guitar and gutturals) and Carlos Castrejón (lead guitar).
All band members are seasoned musicians from different projects who work together with a clear idea of what they wish to achieve. The combination of their diverse approaches to music, creative ideas, background and influences converge together in KAELIS.
The band started by writing and defining the vocal lines and string arrangements. The rhythmic base was then completed with the addition of Emmanuel Von Barragan (bass) to the band. Manuel, always interested in music as well as in a multitude of artistic trends, fitted in perfectly with the group's direction. As the last piece to complete the puzzle, Daniel Simón (drums) joined the group, providing a strong, emphatic and fresh sound to the band's compositions. At the end of 2022, he parted ways with the band to focus on other projects.
Recorded at Jotun Studio with producer Leo Peña, ‘FAR GALAXY’ is the band’s debut album and is a statement of KAELIS’ musical direction: a bright new star on the Symphonic Metal scene’s firmament.

Interested in music since her childhood thanks to the influences transmitted by her family, from classical music to flamenco, she has been attracted to singing from a very young age.
She received her first singing and music theory lessons at the age of 16 at the Philharmonic Centre in her hometown, with conductor Florencio Rozi.
Since her teens, Bethany relates to bands such as Evanescence and Within Temptation. At the age of 19, she began to be involved in several metal projects, from symphonic black metal to folk metal. In 2011, she founded the symphonic metal band, Eteddian. In 2017, she begins taking singing lessons with Vanessa "Nane" Vocal Coach until 2020.

ARCANUM
Álvaro started on the guitar at the age of 16, inspired by Döver, Avalanch and Metallica. He would later deepen his interest in Symphonic Metal and Melodic Death. At the age of 19 he recorded his first Demo for his solo project: Arcanum. With KAELIS, he combines his passion for Symphonic Metal and occasional guttural voices.

CARLOS CASTREJÓN

6 September 1970
Since his childhood Carlos had an attraction for heavy music which he initially tried to deny. In time, he gave in to his love for the genre despite pressures to follow mainstream trends. He owned his first electric guitar and started learning to play on a self-taught basis when he was 20. Today, that same guitar decorates his home’s living room.
Carlos has received guitar lessons from José Manuel Ortiz and later, in early 2000, he attended masterclasses with Ángel Ruiz, legendary guitarist from the band Storm. Since 1997 Carlos has enjoyed a prolific musical journey, playing for various groups within the hard rock and heavy metal genres.

Manuel started playing the guitar when he was 12 years old. Although at first he attended flamenco lessons, he learned various styles on his own, mainly focusing on rock and metal. At 20 he began playing the keyboard and producing symphonic and electronic music.
